Phil Taylor was born on April 7, 1988 and grew up in Clinton, Maryland. During his high school career at Gwynn Park, he played on the offensive and defensive lines and notched 77 tackles and 10 quarterback sacks during his senior season. He was soon named all-state first team.
After high school, Phil Taylor headed off to Penn State to play football. He was secured as a member of the defensive line and that line was ranked seventh in the U.S. for rushing defense. He played in 11 games his sophomore year, starting four. He was responsible for 20 tackles, six of which were for loss.
Though Phil Taylor saw playing time, he opted to transfer to Baylor after two seasons with the Penn State Nittany Lions. After sitting out in 2008 due to transfer eligibility requirements, Phil Taylor will be ready to suit up with the Baylor Bears in 2009.
