JD Walton was born on March 24, 1987 and he hails from Allen, Texas. He was a well-rounded young man and was active in his church community, tutoring programs, and athletics at Allen High School. As a football player, he was ranked 56th in Dallas by Rivals.com. He was showered with an impressive 14 DI scholarship offers. He was also a first-team all-district and first-team all-county player and was a team MVP and player of the week six times each.
In 2006, JD Walton headed off to college at Arizona State. He redshirted his freshman year. But Arizona didn't fit for JD Walton. He decided to transfer and became a member of the Baylor Bears. In 2006 he had to sit on the sidelines of games due to transfer eligibility rules, but he was back in 2007, starting every game and earning offensive line honors. JD Walton was part of the Baylor Bears strong offensive system that permitted just 21 sacks over the season, the squad's fewest since 1995.
