Blake Szymanski was born on July 26, 1986 was raised in Wichita Falls, Texas and attended Rider High School. During his senior year, he threw for 4,083 yards and 45 touchdowns. The Rider Raiders football team went to an 11-3 record during Blake Szymanski's senior year.

In 2005, Blake Szymanski elected to redshirt. In 2006, he stepped up as started for the last three games of the season due to the injured Baylor Bears starter. He made 64-of-121 passes. This totaled 689 yards, 4 touchdowns and 7 interceptions.

In 2007, Blake Szymanski started ten games. He was ranked as the number 6 passer in the Big 12 and he was at number 34 in the nation for total offense. His 2007 season was even more notable because he broke and made TWENTY Baylor Bears game, season, and career records in everything from completions to touchdown responsibility.

By 2008, Blake Szymanski was serving as a backup quarterback. He played in 5 out of 12 games.
