Ahmad Jenkins was born on June 5, 1989 and grew up in Trinidad, Texas. The Baylor Bears tradition runs deep in the Jenkins' household. Ahmad Jenkins' older brother Quincy lettered on the team for four years (2003-2006) and another brother, Desmond, is currently a junior on the active roster.
In high school, Ahmad Jenkins amassed 16 varsity letters between football, basketball, and track and field. In his football career, he switched between defensive end and wide receiver. The Trinidad Trojans finished the 2006-2007 season with an 11-2 record plus a district title. Jenkins was instrumental in helping the team to a quarterfinal play during state playoffs.
Off the field, Ahmad Jenkins was recognized as his school's Student of the Year, was picked to be a Bill Gates Millenium Scholar, and particpated in student council, band and National Honor Society.
Ahmad Jenkins chose to redshirt during his freshman season in 2008-2009 with the Baylor Bears.
